OK, now this is one of the most awesome things we have seen recently! While reviewing some Google analytics data – we noticed a new tab in our reports. We had heard about this a while back, but since we did not have access to it we never really gave it another though. But it seems to be either rolling out on a larger scale or maybe fully released.
As per Google, the user reporting feature is defined as follows:
User Explorer Reporting: A new set of reports in Google Analytics lets you perform analysis of anonymized individual interactions with your websites and apps. User Explorer utilizes existing anonymous Google Analytics data to deliver incremental insights that marketers need to improve and optimize their sites and apps. The feature is now available in the Audience sections. Anonymous Client ID and User ID will be surfaced in this report as a part of the release.
Why is this so exciting? Well, because we can now get a real birds eye view so to speak as to how people interact with our site. This is so critical in your success and we never had the data handed to us like this before without having to dig for it…
Take a peak at the screenshot of a piece of data from our own account. Here is what we can learn from this report.
- The date the user first interacted with our website – for this user it was April 27, 2016
- How they found us (organic, social, direct etc.)
- Their device
- THEN THE BEST PART – you can easily see how many times they came back to our website – what they looked at, how long they looked at and if you have events setup it will shows those too. This is critical in knowing what content is working and what is not!
Although we can see a lot of great data from this report for e-commerce websites, any website can benefit from this information!
