Hi everyone! I know the New Year is a bit underway – but I finally just got a chance to write an update about what is happening here at 2 Dogs and what to expect going forward!
I am hoping for some big changes this year – both personally and professionally and just want to outline them below so you can decide if you want to stick around (and I hope you do!).
1. I Bought A Website
Most exciting on my list of recent accomplishments is the purchase of a website I just made this month! I am now the proud owner of Plum Crazy About Coupons.
While I am not a fan of the name or the URL – the potential of this was huge so I went for it!
I will do a post specifically outlining why I bought this and why I think it is a huge opportunity for me so you can learn the buying process and what to look for when buying a website.
I have a LOT of work to do to the website. It was just handed off 2 days ago so stay tuned for a lot of changes going on there as well. The only thing I did was modify the home page a bit and change the font because it was using Comic Sans which just makes me cringe.
I want to turn it into a “Middle Age Mom” blog talking about the trials and tribulations of growing older gracefully – how to save money and make money – raising a teenager and of course product reviews and stuff. A bit of snarky – a lot of fun and real life. I have wanted something like this for a long time and am very excited!
2. Passive Income Is The Goal
I will ALWAYS do consulting, SEO and website audits – that is where my true passion lies. But I am looking to do less with website development. It is getting harder to find solid contractors to work with and while I still like it – I do not love it like I used to. I am an SEO girl – it is what I love and am best at.
So, for 2019 I am going to focus on growing my SEO consulting and work on my network of websites to increase my income and minimize my web design work. I am changing directions so I can work a little less – but still maintain my income level.
Over the next 1-2 years I hope to transition this website into more of a learning blog than a portfolio website. I will still do some web work in the future — but it will be just a few projects a year. I want to focus on teaching and educating and consulting going forward.
I live in New Jersey – it is incredibly expensive. I have to work – it is not an option, but I realize I need to work smarter not harder and that is the focus. With my daughter leaving for college next year – now more than ever I need to limit the 12-14 hour work days and spend more time with my family.
I hope you guys are looking to do the same! Remember – your kids need (and want) you, yes – even teenagers!
3. More Video Tutorials
As we kick off the new year I am 100% focused on creating more tutorials about how to improve websites, use various tools and maybe just maybe I will get my face on-screen to talk about things that matter to your online business! (I am notoriously camera shy – hence the reason you rarely see me).
I am doing this because apparently I must have a knack for helping people understand things that can be confusing based on the emails and comments I got – so I want to run with that.
This all makes me very happy because I actually LOVE teaching!
My goal is to create a great portfolio of easy to understand tutorials – both video and tutorial that are easy to follow and understand. They will be phases as well from “beginner to advanced” so you work your way through things.
Some of the upcoming tutorial topics include:
- Keyword Analysis
- Rank Tracker
- Website Auditor
- Using Gutenberg In Cool Ways
If you have a request for a tutorial or video – just hit me up at email@example.com. If there is something you are personal stuck with – let me know and I will do my best to help you!
5. Current Clients Fear Not
If you are a current client reading this – fear not, you will not be impacted in ANY WAY. If anything I will be more readily available to you than I have been in the past! I have an always be here for you guys — so keep on doing what you do and I got your back.
6. So, What Are You Guys Up To?
Anyone else making some big scary changes? Would love to hear what others are up to and if anyone is doing any major overhauls to their brands or business?
