Our first “Best Friends” web services grant application process is finally complete and the winners have been selected! We were excited and overwhelmed by the response to our web services grant – it was really a great way for us to see all the great groups in our community that are doing some amazing work to make the world a better place.
In reviewing the applications we looked for a few things:
- The need for web or marketing services – we asked questions like did they have a mobile website, was the site aesthetically pleasing, were there clear call to actions and did we understand what they did quickly and easily.
- Community impact – was what they were doing really impacting the community in a positive way and what was the reach of what they did.
- Could we help them increase their visibility, user experience and/or help them grow their support base.
We wanted to make sure we selected groups that we were confident we could help and that we could bring the largest impact to.
So, who did we select?
RideWise was an initiative we did not even know existed! They are a resource in Somerset County, NJ to help commuters find sustainable travel alternatives. Their website offers a lot of great information on ride-sharing, public transportation and even bicycle and pedestrian tips.
We chose them because it was clear their website needed a facelift and they really needed something they could self-manage. We are excited to help them and look forward to relaunching their new website this fall!

We are excited to have completed the Ridewise website! Below is the before and after of their website so you can see the major change they underwent.
CAREGIVER VOLUNTEERS OF CENTRAL NJ
Caregiver Volunteers of Central NJ offers so many great services to the disabled, elderly and veterans and are hoping to expand their services. Currently they are primarily focused in Ocean County, NJ but are also working in Monmouth County, NJ as well. With programs like medical transportation, respite care, veterans to veterans and even canine companions they do amazing things for so many in our community.
We selected them as well because we were really impressed by how many services they offer and felt we could help them modify their website and improve some onsite strategies to help gain visibility and exposure.

And we are thrilled to announce that their website is also complete! For this website we did a backend update to make updating easier and made some home page modifications to get their messaging out in a clearer way.
Thank you to everyone who made this a success! Our next grant application will start in late Fall! Stay tuned for details.
